Dr Rachel Green
Rachel was born in Cambridge UK and went to University in Birmingham. Having been lucky enough to visit Australia in her fourth year of university Rachel fell in love with the country and knew she would return. She completed her degree in 1997. Having completed 18 months of service for the NHS she moved to southeast Queensland.
Rachel started her specialist training in 2001. Her training took her through the major teaching hospitals and a 12 month rural stint in Mackay. Rachel gained her fellowship in 2008.
Rachel took a short leave in 2007 to have her first daughter, returning full time to finish her training. She worked at Ipswich General Hospital as a staff specialist until her second child was born. She returned to work part time as a Visiting Medical Officer and as a Private Practioner in 2009. She now works full time in private practice.
Rachel is very proud to be involved in the local community. She supports a number of local charities and is heavily involved in the Ipswich Junior Grammar School community where her 2 girls are educated.
Shan achieved her Registration as a General Nurse and Midwife in early 1980. Up to the early 90’s she worked in several hospitals in rural Queensland and achieved significant experience in all aspects of General and Midwifery care. Rural Midwifery, at that time, was very challenging as medical support was limited and Tertiary Hospitals were many miles away.
She is married to Michael, has two adult daughters and four beautiful grand children.
Shan and her family moved from country Queensland to Ipswich in 1990 and she worked at Ipswich General Hospital Maternity unit until starting part time work with Rachel in 2010. During her time at Ipswich General Hospital her main focus was Antenatal Care and she was the Level 2 Midwife in the Antenatal Clinic for the majority of those years. Postnatal care and also Birth Suite were part of her roll and she was privileged to birth many babies during those years.
